Body 'n' Sol recognises the importance of providing a website
that is accessible to all user groups, including the disabled.
Our pages conform at a minimum to Level A compliance as specified by the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines and endorsed by the Royal National Institute for the Blind (RNIB). The majority of Level AA and AAA requirements are also met.
We strive to obey the spirit of the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) of 1995 with respect to the provision of services online, as required by the Disability Rights Commission (DRC).
While we use Bobby to test for accessibility, it is just one aspect of our testing procedure. As a computer programme, the Bobby test is not as reliable as expert evaluation. Pages are also tested in the following screen readers: Jaws for Windows and IBM Homepage Reader.
Navigation Shortcuts
There is a short menu at the start of every page that allows you to jump directly
to the most important parts of the page, including main content and navigation.
Sighted people who use the keyboard to navigate will see these links appear
on screen when using the Tab key to navigate through the
page.
Each shortcut has an access key assigned.
Access Keys
Access keys are keyboard shortcuts that replace the need to use the mouse for
navigation, in browsers that support them. In Internet Explorer on Windows,
you can press ALT + an access key; on Macintosh,
you can press Control + an access key.
Then press Enter to activate the link.
Text Only
This website has a ‘text-only’ version for visually impaired readers.
With the use of Cascading Style Sheets, we can provide those
who require a high contrast, large text format of this website, without depriving
them of any content available on the Graphics version of the
website. We did not have to build ‘two’ websites to supply the
text only version – we have achieved this feature with the power of cascading
style sheets.
Valid CSS
All pages validate as CSS 1.0.
Valid XHTML
All pages validate as XHTML 1.0 Transitional and use structured
semantic markup.
Cross Browser Testing
We recognize that not all site visitors use the same browsers, platforms and
hardware. As a result, all pages are tested across a range of different browsers
and on both Mac and PC computers. This testing ensures that as many people
as possible experience the website as our designers intended.
